What do we love about Elmer's?
Elmer's is a state-controlled public beach. The biggest attraction to Elmer's is the massive lagoon we ride in that provides flat water and is rideable in almost any wind direction. It is generally about waist deep throughout the entire lagoon with a soft mud bottom. Bored of riding glass? Walk to the beach with your kite in the air only a 100-yard walk from the lagoon. Aside from that, Elmer's is half a mile from Grand Isle which is a terribly fun place to be with or without wind!
Notes about Elmer's
- The park does "close" at night (they lock a gate).
- If navigating there via iPhone maps, turn on "Faa Road".
- The water is 95% clear of obstructions, there is potential for a few submerged crab traps or similar; be aware.
- Bring a fishing pole in the event the wind dies.
